Model over projekt

Highway for Material Knowledge

The Highway for Material Knowledge (Motorvej for Materialeviden) is a Danish project launched in January 2024 to bring the latest material knowledge to Danish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The project, financed by the Danish Industriens Fond and coordinated by the LINX association, aims to strengthen Denmark's competitiveness by improving companies' products and processes through increased material knowledge.

The role of the Danish Technological Institute in the project

The Danish Technological Institute plays a central role as a knowledge partner in the Highway for Material Knowledge. As part of the GTS network (Approved Technological Service Institutes), the institute provides technical expertise and advice, helping companies translate the latest research-based material knowledge into practical solutions. This contributes to raising the knowledge level of companies, thereby enhancing their competitiveness.

The project covers all of Denmark

The Highway for Material Knowledge creates a nationwide network that effectively connects universities, GTS institutes, local business development organizations, and SMEs. This network facilitates the sharing and application of material knowledge across regions, making it easier for companies to integrate advanced material solutions. Furthermore, new SME-relevant needs for research technological services are mapped, supporting development within the companies.

Focus areas:

  • Improvement of competitiveness: The project aims to enhance the competitiveness of SMEs by applying new material knowledge and solutions.
  • Network development: Creating connections between researchers, experts, business development organizations, and companies to enable knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Strengthening business councils: The project works to strengthen and upgrade local business development organizations in material consulting, giving them better opportunities to identify and address material-related challenges faced by their local SMEs.
  • Understanding the business potential: Creating lasting improvements for SMEs by increasing their understanding of the business potential in materials and thereby strengthening their market position.
