Sand production causes blockage of tubulars, erosion of flowlines and reduction of production. Reducing sand production offers an attractive goal towards minimizing operational costs and optimizing oil production. 

In collaboration with Maersk Oil, DTI has developed a field-proven sand consolidation technology offering the operators a cost-effective alternative to mechanical solutions. The technology chemically binds sand grains together while maintaining a sufficient permeability and good production rate.

DTI prepares customized chemical recipes based on specific reservoir characteristics. The recipe is tested in DTI´s coreflood setup prior to field implementation. The consolidation treatment is environment-friendly and completely reversible.
