Projects - Technology for agriculture
Please read selected and ongoing Research & Development projects with participation of Danish Technological Institute within the technology for agriculture area.
Ongoing projects
NoN2O – New Biotechnology to Reduce Nitrous Oxide Emissions and Nitrogen Losses from Agriculture
The project will employ microorganisms with special properties, which will be added to organic fertilizers and spread on fields. DNRA bacteria enhance nitrogen availability for crops while minimizing environmental losses, benefitting both the planet and farmers.
ON-MET – Testing a New Method for Quantifying Methane Emissions from Wastewater Facilities
We are testing and developing a new measurement method for total quantification of methane emissions from wastewater facilities. Through the project, we gain an understanding of how operational conditions affect methane emissions, thereby increasing the potential to develop effective reduction strategies.
AgRibot: Developing and Testing Robotic Technology and Augmented Reality in the Field
We are proud to contribute to the AgRibot project, which is being carried out across Europe with 18 partners. In the project, new technologies are tested and evaluated against current standards. Safety is a key focus to ensure correct procedures and proper use of the new technology in agriculture.
AgrifoodTEF: Testing and Preparing Reliable AI and Robotic Technologies for the Market
The Danish Technological Institute provides testing and experimental facilities, as well as knowledge and expertise, to ensure that AI and robotic technologies are tested, verified, and prepared for the market. This enables development, optimization, and the green transition.
FarmDroid Vision - Field Robot Gets Better with Intelligent Vision
A 3-year project supported by GUDP. The project builds on SmartDroid and aims to equip SmartDroid with intelligent AI-based vision to enable new applications.
CLIMARISC - A Groundbreaking AI-Driven Platform for Managing Climate Risk in the Agro-Food Sector
A 4-year project funded by the Innovation Fund through the Eurostars program, aiming to develop an AI-driven platform to predict and manage climate risks in the agro-food sector.
SmartField - An Innovation Platform for N2O Mitigation in Danish Agriculture
A 5-year project which aims to create a national infrastructure for testing, validation, and implementation of technologies for the reduction of laughing gas (N2O) emissions from agricultural activities. The project is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
SAVA - Safety in Autonomous Vehicles in Agriculture
A 3.5-year project supported by the Innovation Fund Denmark to develop safety systems for autonomous machines through testing and evaluation of various sensor technologies, covering everything from mobile robots to tractors.
Climate Friendly Plant Biologicals
A 4-year project developing tools to document the impact of plant biologicals on crop yield, as well as their effects on climate, environment, and biodiversity. The project is funded by the Innovation Fund Denmark through the Innomission 3 partnership AgriFoodTure.
SOILGUARD
A 4-year Horizon 2020 project developing models to predict best practices for maintaining and restoring soil health. The project investigates the relationship between soil biodiversity and farming practices. The results will form the foundation for evidence-based recommendations.
BioSubstrate 2.0 - Development and Demonstration of Bio-Based Growth Substrates
A 3.5-year GUDP project developing and demonstrating new bio-based growth substrates as an alternative to peat.
